Dementia and Routine

Dementia and Routine

We talk about a big “why” today.

Many know that people with dementia do better when they have a routine that is the same each day.

This usually keeps people calm, anxiety stays low and issues are less likely to occur.

But why is that?  What is the reasoning behind needing a routine and sticking to it?  Many people get burned out when working with loved ones with dementia.

It can be extraordinarily taxing, both mentally and physically going through the same routine every day without knowing why it is so important.

So we, (really Janet) talks about why this routine is so important and what she has personally experienced when routines get broken.
